Views from the Treehouse

Hi there,

We're nearly three weeks into the new year, and I'm still catching up to it being January.

I will keep this introduction brief because I imagine you’ve been inundated with emails over the past two weeks. Thank you for still being here; I deeply appreciate you sharing your time and attention.

There has been nonstop illness throughout our household, and I am still recovering. That’s why you haven’t heard from us, but thankfully, we are on the mend.

On top of that, I am entering the year in another season of grief after the unexpected loss of my father on Thanksgiving. Thank you to everyone who has sent condolences and shared memories and kind words 🩶

The family is back in California for now, and many changes are ahead. As always, taking the time to create helps me with processing uncertainty and all of these moving parts.

My heart aches for everyone impacted by the fires in Los Angeles. Neighbors, mutual aid groups, and supportive strangers near and far have come together during this tragic time. It never ceases to amaze me how communities continually demonstrate that how we can protect and heal each other.

News from HQ

  • 🏷️ We love a rebrand: We initially launched this newsletter under the Creative Recharge. After revisiting Treehouse Annex's communications strategy, we decided to fold the name into a section of the newsletter. We’ve officially rebranded as Views from the Treehouse! You can still look forward to the Creative Recharge as a dedicated section in future emails.
  • 🏡 Back where we started: Treehouse Annex moved this newsletter to Substack, but that decision has been reversed in light of Substack’s recent partnership with far right-wing journalists. We’ve always enjoyed Kit but looked forward to expanding our community on Substack. This change only means we’ll continue building out Treehouse Annex Studios to provide a space for like-minded creatives.

On Crafting a Creative Life

2024 marked the 10th anniversary of getting on a stage. It was the first time I shared such intimate details of my life outside of a Livejournal entry, and I haven’t stopped sharing since then.
